FAQ

  • I’m not a musician, can I still attend?

Absolutely! This immersion is for anyone who wished to deepen their connection with music. Whether you are a seasoned professional, or simply a person who enjoys music as part of your life, this experience is for you. You will be given the knowledge and opportunity to jam with other people, learn how to speak the language of music, and deepen your ability to “play” with sound.

  • What if I am a professional musician, will I gain from this experience?

Yes! This week we will have the opportunity to go deep into our music both collectively, and personally. This experience is designed to give the participants an environment that fosters inspiration, tools for breaking past writing and learning plateaus, exploring advanced rhythm and vocal techniques as well as expanding our network with others in the industry, exchanging ideas, and insights of what has been successful for each of us along our musical journeys.

  • How accessible is the location from San Jose Airport?

We will be nestled in the cozy mountains of Monteverde, Costa Rica, a beautiful 2.5 hour drive from SJO Airport, easily accessible via car.  You can hire a driver to bring you to the Sanctuary, take a bus, or rent a vehicle and drive yourself at your own leisure. Feel free to inquire with us for guidance as to what would be the best travel option for you.

  • What should I plan to bring with me?

Your instrument if you play, some cozy clothes for the evening/light jacket, and some warm weather clothes for the days, a headlamp for walking at night, bathing suit for river dips, hiking shoes/tennis shoes for trail walks, and flip-flops or sandals for just strolling around. Any specific dietary or nutritional supplements you personally like or need to have. A yoga mat for movement activities in the mornings.  Perhaps some small gifts you may want to give to your new friends and connections if you like.

  • What if I don't speak English, will I still be able to participate?

All classes and activities will be given in both English and Spanish languages. We will have a translator available to ensure we are able to include native speakers in both English and Español.

  • Will I need to exchange currency while I’m in Costa Rica?

Most everywhere in Costa Rica accepts both USD and Colones, and many ATMs will give you the option to take out either currency. You are free to exchange some currency when you arrive if you would like to have some Colones, but it is not mandatory here. Also, most places here accept credit or debit cards.

  • Will there be wifi and connectivity?

Yes, we have wifi in both the accommodations where you’ll stay as well as the main house of the finca. You won’t have to be completely disconnected from the matrix, although we encourage you to explore deepening the connection with nature and yourself while here. Disconnect to reconnect.

  • If I want some one on one training on something specific, will there be opportunities to work in a private lesson setting with any of the facilitators?

Yes, we have intentionally scheduled free time each day for everyone to spend time exploring the land, writing, relaxing, and also taking private lessons if they would like from any of our incredible team of professionals. Feel free to speak directly with them about setting that up, or if you would, like we can arrange it in advance.

  • How far from civilization will we be? Is it in the middle of nowhere?

We will be located in a small town of San Luis, which is a beautiful 20 minute drive to Santa Elena, the main town in Monteverde. Santa Elena has all your modern facilities including hospital, grocery stores, dining, shopping etc. Far enough away to connect with the nature, but close enough to modern needs and services.

  • What's the food and accommodation going to be like?

You will be staying at a local family run eco-lodge that draws produce from their organic gardens, and tilapia from their sustainable tilapia ponds. They will be providing three delicious Costa Rican style 'tico' meals per day to all of us, made with fresh ingredients and lots of love. The lodge has a pool, soccer field, dinning hall, and cozy cabins for us to be well nourished and rested during our week together.  Samanea sits right nextdoor to the lodge just a two minute walk between the property lines, through a lovely garden.

  • Can I come a few days early, or stay a few days later?

If you are interested in extending your time in Monteverde, we can help connect you directly to book your extra days.

  • Are there many wild animals? Will I be safe?

While we are certainly in one of the most bio-diverse regions in the world, with many animals around, we are hosted by an ecologist/biologist who has spent the last 20+ years here.  We are in the best and most experienced hands we could possibly ask for to educate us on the etiquette of visiting this incredible land and its native inhabitants.

  • Will I have to preform in front of others during the immersion?

Nobody is required to do anything they don’t feel comfortable doing. However, we will have opportunities to share with each other if you would enjoy doing so!

  • Do I need a visa to enter Costa Rica?

No. You do need a current passport with a minimum of six months validity before expiration, and flight confirmation of onward travel showing your planned exit from the country.

  • Will the water be okay to drink where we are staying?

Yes! We will have some of the cleanest mineral rich mountain water available for our nourishment and hydration, filtered and amazing to drink.
